Friday Night Movie Fever : Rurouni kenshin

Source : Google Search
What girl, haven't watch "Samurai X" as we say here in Portugal (Rurôni Kenshin) without sigh? I have a thing for Japonese culture, and this anime series was the hearted from when I was a child. And I couldn't be more happier when I heard that movie was out.

Diretor:  Keishi OhtomoWriters: Nobuhiro Watsuki (manga), Kiyomi Fujii e Keishi Ohtomo (screenplay)Cast: Emi Takei, Takeru Sato, Yû AoiSummary: In 1868, after the end of the Bakumatsu war, the former assassin Kenshin Himura promises to defend those who need without killing and wanders through Japan with a sword with inverted blade during the transition of the samurai age to the New Age. When Kenshin helps the idealistic Kaoru Kamiya from the gangsters of the powerful opium drug lord Kanryuu Takeda that wants her school for his production of opium, Kaoru invites Kenshin to stay in the school. But the drug chemist Megumi Takani escapes from Kanryuu and seeks shelter in the school. Meanwhile the killer Battosai is murdering police officers and leaving messages attached to their bodies. When the cruel Kanryuu poisons the population to get the school, and Kenshin and the street fighter Sanosuke Sagara join forces to attack their common enemy.
I believe that the cenario from the anime series was well captured to the screen. Not too cartoon, well realistic, but very similar to the series. The story of the movie is the same from the first season of the anime series.
For those who are trully fans, will see that are some faillures such as characters missing, and I believe that Kenshin hair should be a little more red, don't you think? I believe some characters are very diferent, for example, Megumi it's too "dolly" for me, and Sagara it's too softy. Nevertheless, I liked to see an anime character brought to life. And I think this movie was way better done then the "The Last Airbender".
If you haven't seen the anime series, I still sugest this movie to you. It's not too heavy, and not too light. It has action and romance. Of course, if you like the asian type of movies. Yes, there is a lot of blood, and some crazy fights. But I think that's part of the magic, and what makes this movies specials.
Hope you like this sugestion for the weekend. Next Sunday I'll be a volunteer at the Color Run! I'm so excited! I'll show some photos later.
Love,Sofia G.
