Summary: A young girl discovers her father has an amazing talent to bring characters out of their books and must try to stop a freed villain from destroying them all, with the help of her father, her aunt, and a storybook's hero.
This is one of my favorite movies. I saw it by accident, and love it. It takes us to the world imagined by a writers from all times. We see characters from famous tales like "Ali Babá and the 40 Thieves", "Rapunzel", "Peter Pan", " The Wizard of Oz" and a lot of them.
Brendan Fraser is a silvertongue: when he reads out loud, some characters from the books come to our world. I believe he's performance is at it is always the same. The same expressions, the way of talk, being.I like this actor, but for me he will always be "George from the Jungle".
I believe the two great stars in this movie are with any dought: Eliza Bennett that plays the daughter of Brendan, Meggie, and Andy Serkis. It's strange to see him without crying for his precious, but he can be an evil maniac frustated man perfectly. And Eliza, played well the role of a young child who doesn't know what happen to her mother or why her father has some atitudes. And to be corageous when it's time.
And we cannot forget Paul Bettany who has always a remarkable performance! It was his character that made me buy the book " Inkheart". I haven't read it, but when I finished what I'm reading now, it will next. Now that I see, is the second movie, here, with Paul Bettany. Perhaps next time I will say to you see " A Knight's Tale", which it's an awsome sugestion.
There are some action scenes, but nothing from the other world. It's more a movie that we are always finding something new in the characters.
So, in the end, this movie left you with a feeling to read world's imagined from talented writers. And for book eater's like us, makes us wanna cry why we don't have a library like the one from the character of Helen Mirren, or why we don't have enough time or money to read those books.
Hope you like this suggestion.
Have a great weekend!
